Bird watching at Vartry Reservoir

Wednesday 20th August 2025, 7pm

We had a great turn-out and a beautiful evening for our National Heritage Week event at the Vartry Reservoir last night, jointly led by EWRT and Roundwood Tidy Towns Biodiversity Group.

Four spotting scopes allowed people to have great views of Great Crested Grebes, Little Grebes, Little Egrets, Mallards, Grey Herons, and various gulls. Meanwhile, House Martins and Swallows hunted overhead, preparing for their long migration back to their wintering grounds in Africa.
